Loved metal, and hairband back then. However; I did listen to the poppy stuff on ocassion (if you were into metal, though you didn't admit listening to any pop lol), as well as some of the hip hop.

You've raised a really good point here and something that has always bothered me. I think you should listen to what you like regardless of what you are "supposed" to like or what anyone says about it. So many people, especially when they are young, feel that they have to fit in one particular group and shun anything that is deemed by the group to not be acceptable. People always thought they had me pegged when they discovered I loved Duran Duran but they would be surprised to look at my collection and find music from all genres and a large portion of it was alternative/gothic. I've always disliked the "us and them" mindset, the world would be a much better place if we all listened, really listened, to each others music.
