Interesting you say that, because I never made a connection between TPOH (I thought they were pretty cool) and the Smithereens. Both had that "garage" sound, though.

If you had a copy of Bloom County's compilation "Billy and the Boingers Bootleg", 1987, you received a flexi-disk with this song on it. The in-comic band, Billy and the Boingers, fronted by Bill the Cat on electric tongue and Opus on tuba, was represented on the single by Mucky Pup, with this song, "U-Stink-But-I-♥-U". I have included two versions, the MTV (yep, MTV, with Adam Curry!) version which kept the backseat make-out session intro, and the flexi-disk version, more legible.
