I hope I haven't already done Fredesvinda a.k.a "Freddy" already. She had one of the deepest/lowest voices of any female singer I know, making her a bit of a curiosity, but it's not a bad voice either.

That's not surprising as she died young, 26, and her one album/CD is not particularly available. She was mostly known for being part of the Cuban nightlife scene, but did make some TV appearances there. She was obese, as the pictures indicate, and her premature death was a heart attack.
I only found out about her when I was looking for altos or deep-voiced female singers at Wikipedia.
This is more for historical interest than anything. On Alcide "Yellow" Nunez he was reportedly an "Isleno", a descendant of Canary Islanders who settled in Louisiana.
This was the first song I heard after I received the news of my grandmother passing away....I still get choked up 3 years later when I hear this song....
