Judging by how many albums Meatloaf has sold (43 million copies worldwide of "Bat Out of Hell" and 14 million copies worldwide of "Bat Out of Hell 2"), I would hardly say that he's under appreciated.

Meatloaf seems like a pretty cool dude. I love where he just randomly shows up in movies like fight club. I remember watching this on mtv when they still played anything remotely close to music.

He has a lot of fans.

You know someone else who is unappreciated? Jim Steinman, who wrote the music and lyrics for Bat Out of Hell, Meat Loaf's most popular album.

I think MEATLOAF is underappreciated in rock music. I never hear him mentioned as an influence by other singers or musicians, or hear his songs covered much.

I feel BAT OUT OF HELL is one of the top 70s albums. His other albums are hit or miss for me, but all have at least a couple great songs.

I have a ballpark at 55 Sullivan Place, Brooklyn I'd like to sell you for a song. Maybe even a short medley.

Underrated:
pre-Lindsey Buckingham/Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac
Any Trouble - a "Stiff Records" band - as well as many other Stiff bands (label went belly up)
Richard (and Linda) Thompson
Graham Parker
Willy Porter

NOT overrated - The Rolling Stones
