You can't deny that it's catchy, but honestly, it isn't a great song lyrically
I'd much rather have this at #1 though over some awful rap song. So I guess Top 40 has improved a little bit over the slump that was between 2003-2008 when horrible rap and R&B songs were number 1 almost every week.
