Looking through the archives I guess I was pretty into music at three years old. Certainly more into popular music then than I am now. I really remember "Call Me" and "Funky Town" anyway. I must have started losing a bit of interest when I turned 11 and by 26 (2003) I was completely clueless about popular stuff. (Although I was pretty much clueless or uninterested about the big hits by 2000 and maybe even a little early)
Looking through the list for 1966 I guess Ashby's jazz harp was more popular in the jazz world that I would have expected. I guess I thought maybe it'd strike them as odd, but by 1966 I suppose jazz people were pretty open to different instruments. Otherwise the Green Beret song and Wilson Pickett look fairly popular. Sadler and Pickett were two interesting guys. I think Sadler was in some kind of covert operation. The "Green Berets song" I'm pretty sure was particularly popular with those who felt Vietnam was an honorable war to fight Communism. It seems like I read Pickett was fairly eccentric.
