I go with his solo years. When I think of my favorite McCartney albums in the post-Beatle era, they include:

Chaos & Creation in the Backyard (solo)
Flowers in the Dirt (solo)
Ram (solo)
McCartney (solo)
Band on the Run (Wings)
Flaming Pie (solo)

Difficult choice. I found him boring solo and with Wings. The only little spark in his post-Beatle career was Band On The Run.

Which is my favorite jukebox song ever. It's like three songs in one!

I like these ones. I also like Red Rose Speedway, cheesy thought it may be!

I thought some of his later stuff from the 1980s onward were a little too cheesy for my liking and his music got a little too commercial

"Band on the Run" is my favorite song Paul did after the Beatles and I also thought it was the best song he did after the Beatles, other songs I thought were great were

"My Brave Face"
"Helen Wheels"
"Live and Let Die"
"Uncle Albert"

No doubt, that's the downside with him. Silly Love Songs and The Girl is Mine and Black and White. Just like Lennon's downside was primal screaming and caustic, angst-y noise. That's why they were so great together.

Paul softened John and John gave Paul an edge. Funny though, that the worst we can say about them is, "You know, they weren't perfect. They did have their downside." Right?

I agree with the cheesiness comment regarding some of his hits. During the early-mid '80s, I think he just put out material just to get a hit--I'm thinking of stuff like Spies Like Us; Say, Say, Say; With a Little Luck; Goodnight Tonight. Even Freedom from 2001 would qualify, though I also respect his interest in the song, as he was a firsthand witness to the NYC attacks on 9/11, while at JFK Airport. Catchy tunes, but there is a bit of the cheese factor there. I do think however, that his more recent "album" cuts have a very high quality to them:
