You have to be kidding. Michael Buble has nowhere near the richness or range of Sinatria, Como, Crosby, Martin, Torme or anyof the greats. He has the STYLE but not the skill. He may improve over time and I do like him but he can't touch Sinatra
I LOVE Harry Connick Jr...absolutely, he has a wonderful voice.
I have the complete works of both Buble and Sinatra, listen to the SAME song by both side by side, Buble's voice is richer...I need to do the same with Connick.
Does anybody still remember that Harry Connick, Jr. guy? He was supposed to be the new Sinatra too.
Thought of him too, Twinkle. Harry has always made me think of what you'd get if you blended Sinatra with Bobby Darin
Although Francis Albert will always reign supreme AFAIC, love both these guys' work as well. But I couldn't really compare them because they're not really out to imitate anybody -- just the style. And thank goodness for them!
Now, Sonny Averona, there was Sinatra's personal favorite Sinatra impersonator!
it's hard to compare the two because to me it's obvious that Buble has a much more practiced, refined voice.....Sinatra's is unique and natural---like the orange juice slogan ya know---"simply unfooled around with" , as many of his generation did. now it's unheard of for a singer not to have had voice lessons. for a real shocker, listen to the early Tim McGraw and the Tim from today, talk about before and after!
Let's see if people are listening to Michael Buble in 70 years like they do Sinatra. Buble can't interpret a song long Sinatra or Tony Bennett. He doesn't innovate or have the smoothness of Mel Torme nor the musicianship of Harry Connick Jr. In other words he's just another "new Sinatra" and they come along and then disappear all the time.
By the way if you can see Harry Connick Jr in person do it, he puts on an incredible show.
