Malcolm McLaren was a lot more important for having helped to assemble and manage the Sex Pistols, for better or worse. (He also managed what was left of the New York Dolls in 1975 . . . )
Wow. At first I misread it as Malcom McDowell, and I was more upset.
I wonder if Vivienne Westwood will care at all. I'm torn. It's a bummer when people die, but he was terribly important, (at least that's what the music history books say) although I question how much credit he took for things he didn't really do.....

This was big news for me, I love(d) so much of the music he was involved with one way or the other.
I think he was remarkably creative; he thought way out of the box and dreamed up music combos like a true artiste. His FANS album of 1985 was opera with a beat box and synths - great stuff.
If you can find this biography buy it, it is a wonderfully entertaining read, the guy is a true legend:
