This thread is sure to bring out the Sonic Youth and Lou Reed fans as well as some haters. I did my due diligence and searched for a thread on this topic and did not find one.
What are some of your favorite songs from Noise bands or just songs with unusual non-traditional items used to make music?
I actually liked all of the above tracks--including the toaster song.
Jackyl makes me feel like I'm back in 1972 but in a good way.
Off the top of my head I can't think of any songs made with non-traditional instruments, but 'noise music' immediately made me think of No Epiphany, the distortion-filled-wall-of-sound howler recorded by the band with the F word (F'd Up) as part of their name, from their album The Chemistry of Common Life.
There is a remix of this song, and also a vimeo of it, but I don't much care for either of those--the first one loses all raw immediacy, and the second one has terrible audio. If you google Spin Online with the name of the band and the song, a free mp3 will come up.
One of my favorite bands, Agalloch, use a deer skull in some of their music.
