Default John Lee Hooker

We need to start a thread on JLH. He was the man who made the 12 Bar Blues format famous and changed the way the blues sounded forever. His style can be heard in ZZ Top, George Thorogood and many-many-many others.

Oooh, yeah. . . !!!

I've been a fan of his since 1970, still own the "Live at Soledad Prison" LP I bought that year.

Finally saw him in concert in '83 and about 4 more times since then. He'll always remain one of my favorites.

Interesting! I never knew John recorded with the Doors. Wonder what album it's from?

This one isn't so much about John Lee (more about Big Mama, as far as I'm concerned), but I'd bet a lot of people didn't know he played the harp as well ~ though it wasn't his biggest talent. This is fun, though.

For now I'm calling it a night. Let's see if someone else can catch up to us by tomorrow! :-)

YouTube - House Rent Boogie

Anyone hear of George Thorogood? Not before George Thorogood heard of John Lee Hooker (and Howlin' Wolf).
