Default Summer weather, heat and humidity?

What are the summers really like there? Are they hot and humid for long periods? Do you get a breeze off the sea to cool things off? When does the heat start and how long does it last? Temps?

Anybody move from FL, how does it compare? I heard that if you're from FL, it won't be bad at all.

Lots of heat, lots of humidity. Heat starts to ramp up in late May, running into early October. Sea breezes are a common summer occurrence, usually starting up late morning as temperatures rise. They help to moderate the temps but not the humidity. Didn't move here from FL, but lived in Orlando awhile, long time ago. As a general comparison, I doubt you'd find it much better or much worse than there.

Some resources:

Average Myrtle Beach Temps

City Climate Comparison (Lets you compare Orlando to Charleston SC AP). Not a big difference between Charleston and MB.

Yes! Lots of HEAT & HUMIDITY in the summer here for sure! Now, in winter, the opposite is true! FREEZING COLD & No humidity! It is amazing how these two seasons can be so extremely opposite!
Hang in there, Baylovers, Things should begin turning around in a few weeks. For as cold as winters are in this area, this winter (last as well) has been off the charts!

beckycat, I may not be the best person to answer your question because I actually like the heat. I moved here from Maryland (and PA) and I found this past summer to be much more enjoyable than the ones up north. For one thing, many of the activities we do during those months are in or around water. And two, the breezes make it much more tolerable. Give me 90 and humid over this cold any day!

I have to agree, Neecewh! I, too, would gladly take the oppressive HEAT & HUMIDITY of summer here, over the extreme opposite situation of winter...any day! Hopefully, we will start warming up to more deal-able weather in a month or so....pretty much 3 straight months of this ungodly cold is really hard to take!

To address your question more specifically, Beckycat, summers here are extremely HOT & HUMID. I can not imagine, they could be any worse in FL. Agree with Pawleysdude!

I agree! HOT is good!
If you're on the beach, there will usually be a breeze.. From mid-June to Sept., it's going to be HOT...and humid...it's a beach...lots of water and heat makes for humidity! (On the East Coast, anyway!)

I agree. The breeze makes it so much more tolerable. I love the weather in MB, even in August! We can't wait till we're shoveling sand and sunshine rather than this never ending snow...ugh.
