Crime Reports Now Viewable
As I was doing my morning "new homes listed" search, I found that Trulia has activated it's crime report on the visual mapping. This is wonderful, as it shows you the crime "hot spots" visually by red/orange/yellow and green; and more importantly, it shows you the number of crimes and the types of crimes in the area.
So if you find that dream home and are wondering how safe the neighborhood is, try using Trulia's map, click on crime, and you can zoom in or out to get a pretty good "feel" on how safe the neighborhood really is. (You have to have a home selected for that area to automatically show up, but you can drag and move the view around, and/or use the expand function to see the bigger picture.)
I was happy to see no black dots in the areas where I am concentrating my search, and quite surprised to see a break-in, domestic, and a few "suspicious people/vehicle" in other areas.
