New countertops sounds wonderful! So many types to choose from and a lot of it depends on the style of your home. I personally love the idea of concrete/cement ones - so many options with that. If I had an older style home, I would want marble, even though it is soft compared to granite, etc. the look of it is so gorgeous. I have several antique marble top tables and the marble has held up very well over many, many years of use. I also love granite, but to me it is a bit of a 1990's trend and very common. I have nothing against granite, but my personal preference is for something more unique and eclectic.

Lots of decisions to make and things to consider, including the resale value of your home, etc. Most people buying a home would probably want the granite. I'm more off the grid.

Don't go to Eastonite for countertops. We did and big mistake. They scratch very easily and is not a good product. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Price is high for what they are too.
