One month rental for August ??
Hey forum helpers and friends
Where would a good place be to start looking for a month long rental,
I have no problem using priceline and the likes to find rooms for a week,
but would like to find something for the entire month of August.
One bedroom minimum, does not need to be on the beach, but with in a mile or two would be great!
Is $2000 for the month within reason ?
Thanks for any leads

Frozen, I don't think you will find a place that rents "by the month" in August, but you may find a place that has August available the entire month and could book it for that (although you would still be paying weekly rates). The best place I can think of to find one would be VRBO (http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/south-carolina/myrtle-beach?q=Myrtle+Beach+Central+South%2C+Myrtle+Beach %2C+South+Carolina+&from-date=08%2F01%2F2012&to-date=08%2F31%2F2012&sortby=Default - broken link) because you can enter an arrival date and a departure date and see which units still have that time frame available. Then maybe you could write to the owners to see if they would give you a discount for renting for the month. You may have better luck finding a place off the beach that would still have the month available.
If you want to go a little south of Myrtle, Rose Real Estate handles a few different communities down this end including Tupelo Bay where I live. I know that many of the units here are vacation rentals and there may be some still available for the entire month. Tupelo Bay has awesome amenities and is only a short drive (about a mile) to the beach. They also have a shuttle that will take you there and pick you up.
Have a wonderful time!

Try Barefoot Resort...it's in N. Myrtle Beach, and it's not right on the ocean, but it's not far, either! All "communities" have their own pool, and there's a larger pool that everyone can use, too. If golf is your thing, there are 4 courses to choose from....and if you don't golf....not a problem! Plenty to do at Barefoot Landing and within easy drive distances!
Many of the rentals will go for a month at a time...or longer!

Upstate SC goes back to school on August 21, Horry County where Myrtle Beach is on August 22. You are going to be paying peak rates for that rental and in that case $2,000 probably isn't going to be enough to cover it. Use VRBO.com and you may find something cheap depending on your needs.

Thanks everyone
Our schools here start in the first week of September, so we always come down on the last weeks in August when the rates for rooms get cheaper, and I make it back for them to go to school.
This time I thought I would experiment on the family's grey matter every time we come down its for a week, or 10 days, by the time we get there it seems like we have to pack up the car and leave.
I thought this time if I bring them down for a month I would have a better feel of what living in MB might be like with them

It always feels that way no matter how long you stay. The thought of going back to work or school after vacation is reality; something we escape while on vacation. If you search VRBO you might luck out and find a cheap rental; we usually go for homes.
