How far down South do you need to go before it becomes more Tropical, palm trees, weather, ect...? Do you need to go all the way to Florida or do you see any of that in the southern part of SC ?
Palm trees are abundant all along the SC coast. The summers along the coast are most tropical, the spring & fall are deliciously crisp & warm and the winters can get a slight frost at night & high temps average around 50 degrees.
Other beach towns (all pretty nice except Atlantic Beach).... Cherry Grove, Surfside, Garden City Beach, Pawleys Island, Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, Sullivans Island, Edisto Beach, Hunting Ilsand (state park), Fripp Island, Hilton Head Island.
Yes, the further south you go in South Carolina, the warmer it is during the winter. The south coast (Hilton Head area) stays quite mild during most of the winter, while the north coast (Myrtle) can see some cold days.

South Carolina, Georgia, and most of Florida have subtropical climates. You don't have palm trees, but you do have palmetto trees, which are smaller. Lots of pine forests and cypress swamps, etc. - it is very humid and hot in the summer, but you can still tell there is a winter - it does get cool or cold.
The tropical climate starts in south Florida. You see few trees, and lots of small shrubs. It doesn't get hotter than SC does at its peak, but it stays warm all year.
