I would recommend a couple of rental agencies:
Myrtle Beach Rental Connections and Real Estate Sales We used this agency when we moved to MB and they were very helpful and we ended up renting through them.
Home Owner Association Management | Timeshare Management & Resales | Annual Rentals | The Noble Company | Myrtle Beach South Carolina This is one of the largest agencies in MB and have a huge inventory to choose from.
Neither of these agencies list all their available rentals online so don't depend on what you see online as being everything. They can also help guide you to neighborhoods in your price range and other things that are important to you. Think about what you want in a community and take that list with you when you talk with them.
Keep in mind that these companies are wanting to rent properties so showing a visitor around who is still months from moving or isn't sure whether they are moving won't be high on their list of priorities. The properties they have today will probably not be there in the future...especially houses...apartments probably will be but not houses. They are not like real estate agents who will take the time to establish relationships for a future sale.
As far a places to stay away from...generally anything around Greens Blvd or the older section on MB. There are also new apartment complexes which do not have good reputations because they are full of college students who party hardy. When considering an apt complex, you should check it out on
Apartment Ratings :: The leading source of apartment reviews by renters for renters. . All apartments have some people who rate them poorly but look at the overall comments...not just the outliers.
Best of luck with your move. PM if you'd like with any other questions.
