at Mark Kruea "shocked" that someone would think MB is trashy. Gee Mark...have you bothered to get out and ACTUALLY look at MB? Homeless people everywhere, crime, shuttered buildings, very few cultural activities to do (and no..going to Pirate Adventure or WonderWorks is not a cultural activity), horrendous taxes on meals out, and a plethora of out of touch city "leaders" are just a few reasons MB is trashy.

Myrtle Beach has again landed on the list of trashiest spring break destinations.
Myrtle Beach landed in the No. 4 spot in the Florida-heavy rankings by coedmagazine.com, behind No.1 Las Vegas, No. 2 South Padre Island and No. 3 Daytona Beach. Myrtle Beach was No. 5 on the list last year. This is the second year the website has compiled the list, but expanded it from the top 10 last year to the top 15 this year.
The rankings by the website, which says it has been the authority in college lifestyle for more than six years, are based on several criteria: Girls Gone Wild shoots, bike weeks, Hooters restaurants, tattoo parlors, strip clubs and local liquor laws about open containers and closing time.

  • 2013 Trashiest Spring Break destinations
    ranked by coedmagazine.com:
  • 1. Las Vegas
    2. South Padre Island
    3. Daytona Beach, Fla.
    4. Myrtle Beach
    5. Orlando, Fla.
    6. Lake Havasu, Ariz.
    7. Miami, Fla.
    8. Panama City Beach, Fla.
    9. Key West, Fla.
    10. Fort Myers, Fla.
    11. Tampa, Fla.
    12. Virginia Beach, Va.
    13. Scottsdale, Ariz.
    14. New Orleans
    15. San Diego

“The Myrtle Beach locals weren’t too pleased about being included on last year’s Trashy Spring Break list but it’s our job to call ’em as we see ’em,” the website wrote. “The fact that Kenny [expletive] Powers had a recent stint there on ‘Eastbound & Down’ isn’t helping Myrtle’s reputation very much.”

The website’s write-up on Myrtle Beach goes on to say that spring breakers can “spend your day on the beach getting hammered” then hit some of the nightclubs and strip clubs later.

Myrtle Beach’s inclusion on the list baffles Myrtle Beach spokesman Mark Kruea, who said the area only gets a few spring breakers and the visits are spread across several weeks.
“I am at a loss to explain why someone would put Myrtle Beach on that list,” he said. “That wouldn’t be our perception.”

Does this mean the "spring breakers" will go somewhere else? Good!

We live near Surfside Beach and I haven't seen Spring Breakers here. Our Walmart and Target were fine.
I had a condo in Daytona once and there we did see Spring Breakers! I think the beginning of March is always too
cold for Spring Break here in Myrtle Beach. The end of March is usually an improvement.
I don't know why we even make the list at all, at the least we should be at the bottom.

I'm not watching Myrtle Manor. Its not how we should be represented at all. It is a small area way far from where
the beautiful places are.

Perhaps it's just doesn't fit into the MB image you wish to believe. Every town, MB included, has areas that are not beautiful. Regardless of how distasteful one may find them, those places and those people are every bit as much a part of MB as are the beautiful places and the beautiful people.

Criticism of this show has gone from the ridiculous to the pathetic. It is nothing more than entertainment for those of us with simple minds who are able to laugh at ourselves. The MB wine & cheese set need to get over themselves.

It doesn't surprise me one bit. This area doesn't exactly draw the highfalutin crowd...only my opinion, of course.
