I book a hotel for a long weekend for the family in December. I heard the area around the hotel is bad. The hotel is located on North Ocean and 6th in MB. Is this a bad area as I am hearing ? Any info would be appreciated Thanks

it's not the best area, but it's okay. In the summer, it's not where i'd stay -- now, in the winter, it's probably fine. I'd generally stay between about 17th Ave. North up to 70th or 80th ave. North. That area right around 6th North up through about 16th or is just sort of touristy and trashier. That's where the old Pavilion used to be and is more honky-tonk. It's amazing how just moving up a few blocks will give you a totally different experience. It's more family oriented up a little farther. They've got a new heated outdoor pool they just built next to Sea Captain's Restaurant -- which is a MUST eat at place while you're here (about on 20th or 21st) that's really cool, and you can swim in it even now. They also have several hotels with the indoor Lazy River that the kids (and I!) just love -- one of them in next to Bumz Cafe on the Beach, which is around 20th, too. That hotel is nice, and Bumz is a lot of fun. I can't remember the name of the hotel, but if you can't figure it out and want to, i can let you know later after i drive by, if you're still interested. hope this helps. Have fun!
