Thank you for sharing that info LogicX. What a beautiful home! I can't imagine it not being a popular model. I love the exterior, it has nice appeal and is welcoming. The interior is roomy and has a wonderful floor plan. We are considering the Savannah which is smaller but has a floor plan that would work nicely for us. It also offers an optional second floor with a bonus room and another bedroom and bath. I know that Beazer does give some nice options, but was surprised to see how many modifications you were able to make. That's great. We also like one of the Lennar models, but they do not make any alterations to the house plans. Wishing you many happy years in your new home. Very exciting!

Default Market Common

Does anyone know about affordable income apartments that are planned for the area across from Crosswind in the Market Common area? (New apartment complex to be built in Market Common - WMBFNews.com, Myrtle Beach/Florence SC, Weather)

Also, do owners in these new housing developments own the mineral rights under their houses? Apparently, I've been reading that some builders are tucking a clause into the contracts saying that they maintain ownership rights underneath the houses...? Builders secretly hoard mineral rights under property)

I know this is a little late but I'm a born and raised local now living in South Florida.

I was raised my Myrtle Beach proper but moved to Garden City and Murrells Inlet for a good part of my adult life then my last three years we lived in Market Common.

My husband and I actually lived in one of my family's homes on the beach in Garden City for 12 years before we bought, moved into, then sold a house in the TPC.

After we sold we moved to Market Common and by far, it was one of the best places I ever have lived!

Loved being walking distance to all the dining, shopping, attractions and the beach! MC is a small, little town where everyone knows everyone else.

If I ever had to move back to Myrtle Beach (aging parents, siblings), without a doubt I'd move to Market Common.

Blueherons, your post was very interesting, since, we too are strongly considering purchasing in the Market Common area of Myrtle Beach. We like the area but we want to be about 10 minutes from Myrtle Beach State Park so we can walk daily. If we are too far from the park, we'll never go. We are patiently waiting for new homes (Lennar, Beazer, etc) to be built in the area. But I am curious about something. I know that a few more subdivisions (if that's what you call them) will be built within the next several months, but I'm wondering which ones are actually "walkable". Do you know what communities are, or what communities will be within walking distance to the MC shopping area? Since I'm "older", I would consider walking distance to be under a mile. Would like not to have to take the car everywhere, all the time. Also, would safety be an issue during the day or early evening? All opinions are welcome.

That airport looks to be way too close for me.

The airport runway is parallel with Market Common. The approach pattern does not take commercial aircraft over market common. The only exceptions are military aircraft which isn't too common. I've lived there for three years. I'd say a few times a month you see it.

You are correct, I've never seen a commercial flight come over our house in Emmens. I actually like when the Air Force does maneuvers, it is fun to watch & it isn't too often.

Lot size is my biggest complaint. I think the greed of the builders to make as much money as they can, by squeezing in as many houses as possible, with the houses practically touching, is responsible. We saw many beautiful houses that were ruined by the fact, you could practically touch the house next door, and the back yards were tiny. If they had omitted even every third house, everyone would have had a great house, and a little land to call their own. We eventually settled in Little River. It's not our dream house, but we have a large fenced in backyard, and room to breathe.. We don't have a HOA, and are down the road from the library, police station, registry, etc. And 15 minutes from the beach. Banks, grocery stores, doctors, a hospital, and shopping is very close by.
Good luck in your search.

Can I ask MC residents what the closest beach access is besides the state park? Is it 29th avenue south?

Springmaid. It's even closer than the State Park.
