Default Moving to Myrtle with Teen

We have vacationed in MB for years, love it. Lots of family changes, want to move and have fresh start. What is best area for a 10th grade girl, North MB, MB, Surfside, Carolina Forest? I've read all these threads, very confused. Want to be somewhat near beach, tourists don't bother me. Would love to work in the tourist industry. Want best school environment, would probably be renting a home to start with. I would need to find job too, in secretarial field for years. Would have visitors I'm sure! MB area just seems nice, friendly, fun place to live and we look forward to it. Coming Easter week to look around. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Carolina Forest would be a nice place for you, decent schools and centrally located. For work call IHT and ask for Shante she's a hustler and will find you work!

Default thanks

Thanks Sheena. What is IHT, an employment agency? So you think Carolina Forest HS is better than MB HS? My daughter seems to think we will live close enough to walk to the beach.....but looking at Carolina Forest it does look like a nice area.

I live in the midwest, but my family was very close to moving to the MB area and we looked at houses down there and everything. Carolina Forest isn't close enough to walk to the beach, but I'd say it's only a 10 minuteish drive if traffic isn't bad. From what I've heard Carolina Forest is the better high school, and much newer with better facilities I think too.

Myrtle Beach HS isn't a bad school, but Carolina Forest seems to get better ratings. Not to mention that it is newer, etc..

You'll find many great neighborhoods in the Carolina Forest area. I'm sure that one could suit your needs.

I'd be willing to provide you with the name of an agent who is very familiar with the area if you'd like..

Shante helped my wife last year, too, when she was looking for a job. She gave her alot of leads but there weren't too many on the South Strand, more in MB area and my wife didn't want to travel that far.

Good luck.

Is NMB better than MB? Looking at 3rd Ave. South in NMB and 38th Ave. N. in MB. Which is better for relocation with a teen? MB or NMB High school? Or should I just stay in Carolina Forest area? So so confusing!

I am also wondering about Surfside area, on the ocean side. A teacher I know owns a house there and plans to retire, loves it. How is St. James HS? How is the area for teens?

I live in Carolina Forest, but my son is only in elementary school.

Here is a website that may help with some info on schools.

Hi there, If you move to the Myrtle Beach area and schools are a big concern I would personally consider the carolina forest, or the Forestbrook area. I saw above someone attached the Horry County Schools website, please check that out it will help. Also Carolina Forest is exactly a 10 minute drive to the oceanfront. If you use the back road (international blvd / river oaks) you can get to the residential areas (38th ave -50th ave)of the beach with easy parking and plenty of elbow room on the sand. Good luck.
