There are two things that I must tell those of you who are planning to move to the Myrtle Beach area. Daily, I come in contact with people who do not have a clue on how to pronounce two words. As a native, it drives me bonkers!

Horry County - The H is silent! It's pronounced Ohree (Orry) county.

Murrells Inlet - Like Muhrrells Inlet, not Muirrells Inlet.

LOL, the first time I heard someone refer to Murrells Inlet I would have sworn he was saying Merle's Inlet. I actually looked it up on the web spelled like that.

Yes, it's like Merle's Inlet. LOL!

I can deal with that. It's the fact that you constantly say Orree county and people still pronounce it H-orry county.
