Moved to Myrtle Beach a couple of months ago and enjoying it very much. Adjustment has been easy, however I'm having difficulty finding a good selection of fresh chicken and good cuts of beef. I don't want to sound like a whiner, but I guess I was spoiled living in the northeast with several well stocked grocery stores within a short distance from where we lived. Large stores like Shoprite, Big Y, smaller family owned stores and one of my favs, Trader Joe's. These stores offered large refrigerated cases with a wide variety of chicken parts, organic too. And the same with the beef, lots of different cuts. If you couldn't find what you wanted you just asked the butcher for it. All cuts, whether they were the less expensive or the most expensive were very good quality. Except for Costco, which in my view has excellent meats (but too large a quantity for us), where is your favorite store for beef, chicken and fish? Still learning my way around the Grand Strand and am open to all recommendations.
Have you tried Fresh Market? I've not bought meat there, but when I was looking for produce, etc I was amazed at the store. I had never been in one before.

There is a nice looking butcher shop on the left side of Inlet Way (between 17 Bypass and 17 Business across from the Inlet Mall). I have not been in it but if I were looking for quality meat (we don't eat much meat) I would definitely check it out.

Have not been inside yet myself but was looking for a butcher for when we move there and found them. We will be there in 2 weeks so should know how they are real soon! lol
Publix in Murrells Inlet opens a week from today. Will let you know how the beef/chicken section is. My wife is totally put off by the selection Lowes has recently. She cant wait til Publix opens up.
Thank you all for your help. We don't eat much meat either, basically chicken, fish and seafood. But when we buy a piece of meat, for example, rib eye or flank steak, I want to be able to chew it...if you know what I mean.
