Default Please Help...Moving to SC

We are considering a move to SC within the next year from Monmouth County, NJ. We have vacationed in Myrtle Beach for the past 5 years and love it. We are in our early 50's with 3 boys, 19,15 & 9. They are into baseball, football, & skateboarding. So Little League, Pop Warner Football and school sports are important. We are very concerned about the school systems & are looking for a new community within a nice small town with families like our own. My hubby and I are both in the financial industry. He's in insurance ad I work for a brokerage firm. If anyone can give me a brief description of a few towns south of MB, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much! Looking forward to living in SC!

I also moved from Monmouth County to the MB area. Are you familiar with Carolina Forest in MB? It's a little busy over there but has all the conveniences you're used to. Towns south but in the same county would be Garden City, Surfside and Murrells Inlet, are you familiar with them at all? There are lots of posts on here about them but what would you like to know exactly? baylovers is a good member on here and knows quite a bit about that area and can shed some light also. As far as schools, I've heard good things about the schools at Carolina Forest but nothing about the others. Here's a link about schools: HCS Home

Lest we also not forget beautiful PAWLEY'S ISLAND, and DEBORDIEU (pronounced 'debradoo") Waccamaw high is a very good school, and if your kid is so inclined, MYRTLE BEACH HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS AND TECHNOLOGIES is one of the best. Due to the recent real estate "recession" decent properties abound.
As ya'll have vacationed here before, ya probably have gotten use to the "GEECHEE/GULLAH" dialects spoken thruout the region.
I'll never forget how lost my husband was when he moved here (ahead of me) from chicago: he must've called me a million times a day for translations!
Anywhoo, there are georgeous homes sprouting up all along the coast, south of surfside.

We moved from Long Island to Pawleys nearly 2 years ago & love it. We have a boy in the HS, which was just rated best overall in the state, and a girl going into the new Intermediate school (4-6 grades) in the fall. This is a ver family friendly town as are most of the towns along the south strand.

Football & baseball are big here... skateboarding is here but not organized like some other areas. They are pushing for a skate park in the new parks budget.

We moved from Bergen Cty, NJ (lived in Monmouth Cty. for a couple of years). We moved to the Carolina Forest area and love it, there is everything around with shopping, schools, and not far from the beach. We have an 8 year old son who goes to Ocean Bay Elementary which is outside our development.
