Default myrtle beach winter vacation

my family and i are vacationing in myrtle beach in late december. is pretty much evertying still open? i realize that putt-putts and water parks wouldn't be, but i am interested in the shopping and dining. we are staying in surfside, so any info on great steak places in that area would also be a great help!

thanks

for the most part, just about everything except the outdoors attraction are open. you may even fing a putt-putt open, too.

The outlet stores, Broadway at the Beach, Market Commons, etc are all open & anxiously awaiting the Christmas visitors. I was working at the Palace Theater a couple of years ago during Christmas & was surprised how many people travel to MB for the holidays.

For good steaks... Thoroughbred's stands out in my mind. Have heard good things about Rios Brazilian Steakhouse, as well. Since you are staying on the south end perhaps you could combine a trip to the Hammock Shops, Village Shops & the Island Shops with a stop at the South Island Steak House in Pawleys Island.

Enjoy your trip!

Most everything will be open (except, as mentioned, some of the places in downtown Myrtle.) Broadway at the Beach is open but they close the stores much earlier in the winter than in the summer (usually around 7 I believe.) Aspen Grill(MB), Chucks (MB), Bovines (Murrells Inlet) and Carolina Roadhouse (Surfside) are all great for steak. I haven't tried Rios yet. We also love The Melting Pot (fondue) and Bonefish Grill...both are chains, but we don't have them here in Charleston. The "Market Common" just opened in MB on the old air force base...with a lot of new restaurants and shopping.

Not sure what the winter hours will be, but worth checking out!!

My wife and I drove down to Myrtle beach the week before Christmas (2007) and found it very relaxing. Normally we go around labor day. Not all the attractions and resturants were open but there was enough to keep us busy. We still had to make choices of what to do and see.

Its not closed, but dead and the hours are shorter. Last year we stopped by and it felt like a ghost town! I think a few of the stores were closed for winter, but I don't remember exactly. I'd suggest going to Broadway if they have the same stores that you are looking for.
