Need Advice on moving and high schools
Moving in June, wanted advise/opinion on which high school may be better - MB, NMB or Carolina Forest. Thinking of moving to Carolina Forest area or NMB. Would love to be near beach, but don't think that would be possible! Student going into 11th grade. Thanks for any input!

Myrtle Beach and Carolina Forest have good schools. I have had a few parents tell me about a few negative things that have happened at CF but nothing too serious.

I'm sure things happen at every school. Just wondering what people think is the better school and where to live. Forest or North MB? I work at high school now in a city with 3 schools. One is deemed best. Thanks!

Horry County schools (where MB is) are generally considered to be among the best in the state. Bad things still happen now and then, of course, but not nearly as much as most places.
Good luck.

But I'm still not finding out if MB, NMB or Carolina Forest is better? And where to live with a teen - Carolina Forest or NMB? Just need some opinions. I love the whole Myrtle area and even down to Surfside. So, what would one suggest for a single parent with a teen? Thanks!

My personal preference, after doing a lot of research when contemplating a move several years ago (a move that unfortunately didn't happen), was Socastee or St. James. Forestbrook feeds into Socastee. My next choice was Carolina Forest, and then Longs/Loris. NMB would be near the bottom of my choices, and MB itself at the very bottom. But that's just me. My family prefers the southern end, Surfside Beach and Socastee areas. I think all Horry County schools are held to the same standards, and Green Sea/Floyds High School actually won a bronze award in the U.S. News school rating system.

Now I'm wondering if I should go south to Surfside, north to NMB or over to Carolina Forest? I wanted opinions from people there as to what they thought is the best area to move to, something homey, safe, good schools, etc. Anything words of wisdom will be appreciated!

Waccamaw HS (Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet) won the Palmetto's Finest for the entire state last year. It has been a finalist for nearly all of the seven or so years it has existed. I just thought I'd throw that out there to complicate things for you, sorry.
Both PI & MI are homey & safe but in Georgetown county, in case you had yor heart set on Horry. If I had to choose between Surfside ot NMB I would probably go with NMB. I have heard very good overall things about Carolina Forest, too.

Thanks for the info! Didn't realize Murrell's Inlet was in Georgetown Co. I will check out Waccamaw HS for sure. Was thinking of Surfside/Murrells area. Someone said St. James was a nice school. The Forest seems so far removed. Decisions! Think I will come down Easter week and check things out!
