I agree ,,keep those pics coming, for those of us still up north with snow on the ground. It warms me up just looking at them & drives me to make sure I'm down there by next winter.

Hey Summering - It was not. It was from early Fall, not sure of the date. There may still be a few working boats in MI, but the recreational charter fleet is now the big business. I think most restaurants get their seafood from purveyors out of McClellanville or Chasn. There are several commercial crabbers who work the inlet regularly, and Nance's and several other seafood restaurants have leased oyster beds in the inlet. During the summer, I see the Crab Cake Lady out working almost everytime I'm on the water. An amazing story - she must be the hardest working person in MI. Georgetown still has a few shrimp boats but they're dwindling fast, victims of cheap imported farm-raised shrimp and high fuel prices. It will be a sad day when they're gone, and I'm afraid it's not too many years away.

Thank you for the information......So interesting.
I love your photos. I know I get the wrong timeframe for my photos, but I have to go when the hubby is out and about, with me and camera in tow......LOL
Last night I saw where the Alaskan Crabs come into the local restaurants.....What a job that is, good gosh. Cold, Icy, and grusome........
I'd hate to see the little village of MI change. It is special as it is. I'd hate to see blacktop, and paved areas.........The charm is how it brings you back.
Now I have to check your Crab Lady link......sounds like a good story.

I have to go out for more pictures soon.......
Use "search" for pictures of the Market Commons that I took this year.....also the latest pictures of Broadway at the Beach......
Of course, there is nothing like Murrells Inlet for peacefulness and nostalgia. May it never change!!! Please.......
Now I have a question for Murrells Inlet lovers....for that matter Pawleys lovers...
I have some very special, special, company coming to visit.
I am thinking of taking them to Olivers in MI........but other then that what other very, special places would "you" suggest......Thanks!

Flo's is still there. I assume it's the same mgt, but we've recently had some hit and miss experiences. Maybe just picked bad nites.
Our budget does not permit "special" dinners very often so I'm not an expert resource, but IMO most folks would list Divine's near the top of that category. If you can get a table near the large window, the ambiance is top-shelf and our meals have always been excellent. A year ago, I would also have included Hot Fish Club with no reservations. A seat on their heated porch has some of the best views in MI. In the past year, we've had some chef issues there, but not every visit. I like the atmosphere at Oliver's but have not dined there a lot. For a friendly, laid-back atmosphere and simple, very fresh seafood, you can't beat Russell's. I don't think he's opened back up for the season but should be soon.

Hi thanks...........we will be going to Flos the end of the month for a group party, can't wait.
I think Devines might be a good suggestion, I will check their menu ......thats a good idea.
We can't go to an all fish place as both hubby and I don't like much fish........but we do love Murrells Inlet.....
BTW Salt Creek was fantastic tonight. We had the Thanksgiving Dinner and everything was perfect, including my drink.......
Nice warm, crusty, bread. Great turkey, stuffing, potatos, cranberries......salad. Warm, cozy place and great foods too.

Murrells Inlet memories
I've lived in Georgia for the past 31 years, but graduated HS in Dillon 1965. I have lots of memories of Murrells Inlet. The one item that has always kept my memory alive is the 8 lb 4 oz Black Drum I caught at Murrells Inlet in 1973, while fishing in a small boat with my wife, that we rented for something like $25.00 a day. I had it mounted and its been on my office wall for many many years. Its been moved numerous times but its still in great shape. I only had it mounted because I caught it on 2 lb test line on a Zepco 202, in 10 to 14 ft of water, with a #8 bream hook, and no net. We should have never landed this fish and would never had caught it had we been actually fishing for it. Blind luck. But a great great memory. I remember my young wife saying to me when she saw the big fish coming to the boat: "please don't bring that fish into the boat, it looks like it has teeth!" Great memory
By the way, I worked my tail just to live at the beach for two summers at "Nu-Way Laundry" in Myrtle Beach, while in highschool. Fourty cents an hour, and worked 50 hrs a week. Slave labor. Didn't matter though, I was at the beach and had my nights.

Fish picture
I'll try and get my son to take a photo of the fish and post it. No promises, but I'll at least try. Thanks for your interest.
