I am looking to move to SC with my faience. We would like to live somewhere near the water/beaches. We were originally looking to move in the myrtle beach area but after reading several posts and doing research it seems that area won't be an option for us. we are a young couple looking for some night life as well as a place for a good starter home with a possibility to start a family. Is there an area in SC that is:

Near the beach (with in walking distance and can view from home)
Great night life/entertainment
Affordable about 200,000 or below in housing cost
Safe to traveling on foot won't be an issue
Also good schools just in case a little one decides to join us sooner than we plan

We are from Michigan so any advice would be very helpful! Thank you!

Probably Carolina Forest would be your best bet, except you won't be able to walk to or see the beach. It's about 15 minutes away.

Look in Surfside Beach. We live south of Hwy 17 Business (so we can walk to the beach) and it's a great school district. My kids are in elementary and Seaside Elementary is fantastic. It's safe to walk at night and there are several restaurants and stores that we walk to or ride the golf cart.

Your $200K price range might be prohibitive in this area but perhaps with the market the way it is, you might me able to find something.

Surfside is a nice area but the nightlife might not be as exciting.

There might be something in Salters Cove......in Garden City/Surfside Beach. You will then just have a golf cart ride to the beach. You won't see the ocean, but you will see the beautiful Marsh.
To see the ocean......you might be able to find something in Oceanside Village, but it is leased land.
It does have some ocean views, a cart ride to the beach, an indoor pool area and outdoor pool area. Remember though.......leased land.
Night life can be had with a ride to Broadway at the Beach or Murrells Inlet......lots of fun to be had in those two places.
