I'm looking to move out of the desert to a warm climate on the coast with lots of theatre - regional, community, etc., etc. Would Myrtle Beach fit the bill? How's the quality of life there?

IMO, Myrtle Beach won't turn up near the top on anybody's list of cultural locations, although the area has an excellent Long Bay Symphony. There are several small "little theatre" amateur productions in the area. Most of the local productions are aimed at the tourist crowd, higher on the hokey factor than the quality factor. (See: Dixie Stampede)

Quality of life is a very personal thing. If you're a golfer and don't need a job, MB's Q of L is excellent. If you need to find a job around here, Q of L sucks. Generally speaking, Charleston SC, our big sister to the South, seems to have hoarded all of the area's cultural genes.
