Oh well, it's closed already. I never had a chance to even try it.

Rapture-
Which place are you referring to? Italian Village?
You know, I'm right around the corner.. and I rarely ever saw any cars there... It's a shame because anyone I talked to that had eaten there loved it...

Yes. We had reservations for dinner a few weeks ago for my mother in laws b'day. When we got there it was closed with a sign saying they went on vacation. I was a restaurant mgr for years and never saw a restaurant close and go on vacation, so I knew something was up. They never re-opened. I think that location is bad unless you really do a lot of advertising and have excellent food.
I just heard about this place in Conway, Luigi's? Apparently they were in MB and moved to Conway. Last night we went there for dinner and it was closed. They close on Sundays at 2:30, I never heard of such a thing. I guess I was spoiled before and could get food anytime. Anyway, I'll go back another day and try it but we ended up at that Mexican place in Conway that's only a year or two old and it was great.

We were talking about Italian Village tonight.. or rather, the location. It's a bad spot and coupled with the fact that three kids were killed there during a robbery when it was the old Burger King several years ago.... Just bad voodoo on the building, if you ask me.
I still need to get to Maggi D's on 544.

location, location, location
Funny you mention that, rrufast. I drove past the spot last week with a former Horry County investigator & asked if he had ever eaten there. He said he could never bring himself to go back into that building after those homicides.
For those willing to make a trip to Litchfield, there is a great Italian restaurant just south of Brookgreen Gardens called Pastaria 811. It is very well hidden & is a local's favorite. It is located in a small mall behind Applewoods Restaurant (which is a very good breakfast spot, btw) next to the Bi-Lo on Hwy 17.
I am not one for chain restaurants, but we ate at Carraba's in Murrells Inlet recently, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, variety & portions. I would certainly go back. I have heard the the "Old World" restaurant next door is good, too.

That's where we ended up going, Carraba's. The food is good but I guess we were hoping for a good place that's not a chain.

You were one door away, Rapture. Once you get over the decor, One World Italian is excellent. If anyone ever decides to make a slapstick movie about Italian restaurants in America, Old World's decor would be the perfect model for building the movie set.

Actually we were at Carraba's near NMB but next time we will go down by you. Thanks for the info.

I'll second that for Pasteria 811. I think it's one of the best Italian restaurants in the state--esp. for those looking to find a place similar to NY/NJ Italian food. We "discovered" it by asking around at Litchfield and have been going on every trip to the beach. The food is outstanding and authentic for what you'd be looking for.
