Hey Guys; a Greenviile neighbor has a question about a hotel and it's area
Hi friends,
My wife's birthday is Aug. 14th and we want to drive down from Greenville and spend three nice days at the beach there. I have accrued a lot of points from Marriott and can get three free nights at a hotel, but it's not on the beach and since we've never been down to MB we're not familiar with the area.
The hotel is called the Courtyard Myrtle Beach Barefoot Landing.

We initially wanted to stay on the beach, but free is free, and if it's close to a nice beach we'll probably do it. I have the room on hold, but wanted expert advice/opinions from those in the know. We have a little girl that's almost 2 and she loves the beach/ocean and it would be a real treat to take the girls down for a few days. All opinions are welcomed. Thanks

What's Barefoot Landing and how far of a drive is the hotel from the beach? Also, is there free parking at the beach? Thank you for your response, btw.

Map of Barefoot Landing
It an fun, open air shopping mall surrounded by stores, restaurants, water features and boardwalks. Right off 17, so beaches should not be far away. Also check out Broadway at the Beach while you are in the area.

I looked at a map last night and it appears that Barefoot Landing is in N. Myrtle beach (?) Having never been to the area is this still an okay area, i.e. safe? Is it close to all of the family fun things to do? Also, since we won't be staying on the beach, is parking free at the beach and are all beaches public access? In other words, we won't be kicked off of a beach because it's hotel property, will we? Thanks again

beaches are very near; you will be on Hwy 17 and next street to the east is Ocean Blvd; there are some free parking spots and plenty of public access areas.

Three free nights anywhere in the Myrtle Beach area should be snatched up! While you're there, take a drive and check out some of the other places to stay. You can jot down some names and check them out online, or stop in and ask to see a room while you're there. If they're not booked solid they'll let you look around, and then when (not if, but when) you go back you'll know where you want to stay.
Enjoy!!

Thanks to all who responded. So it appears that the consensus is that it's a good deal for us; decent location, and beach accessibility isn't an issue, correct?

Okay, after reading some more threads on MB and NMB, I'm getting a little concerned. We have a 20 month old little girl and really want to have a fun, family oriented family mini vacation. If the area is really seedy, someone please tell me the truth. Thanks
