Default North or South Ocean Blvd?

My husband and I want to come down from NC sometime in mid Sept. We'd like to be within walking distance of bars/restaurants/nightlife, but not right in the middle of chaos. It's been many years since we were down there,so I'm sure things have changed.
There's so many places to look at online, but I don't know which hotels/condos are closer to the fun and action. No kids, so we don't need children's activities or entertainment.

Which could give us what we're searching for--North or South Ocean Blvd accommodations??

Thanks!
