On Glenns Bay Rd & 17 Bypass is Anthony's, pretty good NY style pizza. Pretty good food all around, although I did not care for the calzone. Not fancy at all. They have good zeppole & cannolis too!
Anyone recommend a good calzone place?
There are some good thin crust wood & brick oven pizza places around. Landolfi's in Pawleys for wood oven & Pataria 811 in Litchfield for brick oven. I happen to like the Pawleys Island Tavern pizza, not exactly NY style but quite good. Most of the PI locals like DeRoma's pizza, although it is hard to get over the square slices that are not Sicilian.

I'm surprised not many are mentioning Mellow Mushroom. It is expensive, but has to be one of the best pizza places in the south. The garlic flavor to their crust is outstanding. Calzones are great also.

Oh I can't have garlic....I am so allergic to it in large sums.
But.....Anthony's is my choice too. In Surfside Beach........ Great crust, good sauce. Friendly people too!

I also forgot to mention Antipasto's on Business 17 in Surfside (opposite Crabby Mike's). I have been there a few times and enjoyed their pizza and other dishes. A very casual, small storefront at a decent price.

We went to Anthonys once for dinner with a group of people and all of us disliked the food, including the pizza. I was really disappointed because I had high hopes for that place, it reminded me of pizza places I use to go to back home but I even had to send my food back and I never do that. Oh well, I guess everyone has their own taste and likes different things. I'm going to try Luigis in Conway today or tomorrow, cross your fingers for me.

Well that is sad to hear because we went with a group and everyone raved..
There was many different items served also.
I really like their crust, its just perfect........I don't like soft, soggy, crusts with no crispness. I'm very fussy about Pizza. I dislike a ton of them........
But, Anthony's has always been quite perfect, and the sauce digests well. ( I have had some that do not) I think they are very friendly there also, and that matters a huge bunch.
If anyone is look for a great diner.........The new Prince Creek Diner down by Lowes on 707 is great. The man who owns it came from up North. He makes everything homemade. He has some wonderful soups. He has come out and talked with us a bunch. Asking us what we like etc. The menu is great, lots of choices.

You can scratch Anthony's off the list. It has apparently gone out of business.

Luigis (now in Conway) was terrific! No pizza, just good Italian food.
