Enjoy them, then. Oh, by the way-just because a place is touristy is no reason to throw your hands up and just accept something that is unacceptable. I honestly don't care who does what - to each his own. But I (and rightly MB city leaders) must draw the line when some people's activities are inflicted on others who don't share those interests.

Example: My sitting on the beach enjoying the salt air and sound of the surf, or even sitting at a nice outdoor restaurant doesn't inconvenience another soul. Same can't be said for these folks "innocently" cruising around in groups. The same thing happens up here. It's noise pollution, plain & simple.

I think that the bikers opted against the hotels & restaurants in MB and instead stayed in other parts of Horry & Georgetown County.

I am not really into the biker scene but that is what I have experienced. Perhaps someone else can tell you better.
My questioning was more along the lines of traffic issues. I understand that this area is a mecca of tourists, bike weeks etc, I have no problem with that. However I just wondered (after living behind Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord NC for 2 years) what the traffic issue for residents is like....meaning can I get to the grocery store in 15 minutes or is it like 2 hours. I don't think bike week produces anywhere near what the speedweeks do in Concord as far as population explosion, but just wanted to know if the traffic issue hit Murrells Inlet badly or not. The noise and partying have no affect on me, that's part of the area, besides I'd be retired anyway and if something keeps me awake at night? big deal, I sleep in

I've been to bike week before but we were in Myrtle Beach itself, and never went into Murrells Inlet, so I am unaware of the traffic through there, and now especially since the bikers have displayed their displeasure about bike week itself and the attitude of Myrtle Beach and kind of by passed MB

You will have no trouble getting to any of the stores you need (grocery, hardware, hospital, post office, etc.) Most of the bike congestion is at the north end of Murrells Inlet by the old Beaver Bar and SBB. They do not impede 17 Bypass, Inlet Square Drive, or the southern area of MI. The biker area is heavily patrolled by both Horry County and SC State police. But you could live here during bike week and never come in contact with a traffic snarl caused by bikers unless you chose to do so.

Teddy is right. Please do not let bike week be the deciding factor on your relocating to MI. If this year is any indication of future bike weeks, it will be a non-issue. I have a friend who lives in Concord and sometimes he escapes the race traffic by coming here! I wouldn't give bike week a second thought, if I were you.
