Best info I can offer is to bring either solid job offers with you, or else bring large suitcases full of money. The county's unemployment rate is 15%+, with some surrounding counties as high as 22%. Recent article in the Myrtle Beach newspaper: Many Jobless, Few Jobs (http://www.thesunnews.com/2010/03/21/1377617/many-jobless-few-jobs.html - broken link)

For those who are working, Horry County (Myrtle Beach) ranks last in US for weekly wages, as reported earlier this week: Coastal business | Horry County comes in last for weekly wages - Business - TheSunNews.com (http://www.thesunnews.com/2010/04/03/1401477/coastal-business-horry-county.html - broken link)

Correction - bring a truckload full of money, in large bills.
