Hi everyone, I'm going down to Florida from NYC to see my parents. My dad and I planned on going fishing in a previous trip but it didn't happen. When he lived here, we used to go out in the bay on Long Island. Anyway, it's been soooo long since I went fishing, and I want to try and find a place where we can go around Naples. It can be within a 30 mile drive, like up to Ft.Myers or something. We're looking for open boats, you know, where the public goes on and they take you out for a few hours. Anyone know any place that has good fishing? Also, if there is a website that would be really helpful too. Thanks for your help

There are quite a few charter boats that operate in that area. You may wish to check out the Florida Sportsman website at Florida Sportsman Magazine - The Florida Fishing Experts. The site is broken down by region, and they have a forum, also broken down by region.

They have the public charters that go out? I don't want to get it confused with the boats that groups of people rent and pay like $100 each, if that's what you're talking about.

They should have information for party boats (which I think is what you are looking for, generally they take 50 to 60 people out) as well as private charters. I have friends who are captains and run private charters in that area, but I'm just not familiar with the party boat operations there.
