Sweetbottoms: Ok so Amberton is safe and in North Naples? Good to know. Belvedere is nice too? Is that in North Naples as well? Sweet bottoms which apartment would you choose as your top pick if you were me knowing my position?
Also what do you know about these places
I was on an apartment reviewer website looking at additional places. Everything is either really great reviews or the scum of the earth reviews. No in between. Let me know the feelings on these places and also there location.
St. Croix Apartments at Pelican Marsh
Malibu Lakes
Somerset Palms Apartments
Vanderbilt Lagoon Apartments
River Park Apartments
THANKS!!!
Amberton is in North Naples but they consider it Golden Gate.. Don't be fooled tho Naples can be confusing to the outsider on boundaries anything East of I-75 before Collier BLVD most would call North Naples even tho "technically" by county standards anything East of I-75 is considered Golden Gate.... I can only live in North Naples for work/daycare etc reasons (I honestly prefer only NN anyways so it works out) and I would live in Amberton as its only maybe 2 mins east of I -75 . Belvedere is nice too, also in North Naples on Pine Ridge RD in a nice golf course community. IMO I choose Amberton because they're MUCH larger (as in two stories larger) and about the same price and include your cable and water. Both are less than 10 mins from the beach and Mercato, Waterside shops , waterpark, and so on so either is fine and both near food stores. Amberton is less centrally located by a mere few minutes and by no means out in the boondocks (like I said I'd live there and I'm kind of spoiled in I don't want to be any father than 10 mins drive from anything I need) Both are close to the hospitals and both are 2-3 stoplights from several schools. Belvedere is near Barron Collier High, Osceola, Pine Ridge Middle School The Community School) (Private. Amberton is near Gulf Coast Highschool, Oakridge Highschool, Pelican Marsh Elementary and Laurel Oaks Elementary
St. Croix -yes ( these are according to the calls my husband receives at the sheriffs office )
Malibu Lakes- Yes
Somerset Palms- NO.. thats the old Turtle Creek or Arbour View I warned u about (section 8)
Vanderbuilt Lagoon apts- never heard of them whats the street name ?
River Park Apts- NO.. not a nice area in the city
This is the kitchen in Amberton I still have it on my computer for some reason I don't know if I have more of the inside I'll have to look.. This is the upgraded (we had a 3 bed) but its tile , stainless steel appliances, grainte counter and so on..

Sweetbottoms so much information, I can barely process it all!! I am going to have to learn all these areas and what is considered what area. You do give some great advice though. That picture is STUNNING! If you have anymore please send them! So you did live in Amberton? That is promising. Those reviews just made me all nervous with the comments. If you didn't have a problem with them and your husband doesn't get calls from them then I am putting them on my list. Does he get any calls from Naples Oasis? I also want the convenience of being close to everything so that really helps that these are centrally located places. I need these honest advice from people who live it and know it especially since your husband is a police officer. Safety is my number one concern.
You all have been so helpful. I have some more questions regarding bills and approx. cost of some things. I would LOVE advice and help on these because I don't know what Naples charges for these types of things.
PS Sweetbottoms does Amberton have any ammenities? How is the pool? I haven't seen any outdoor areas on the computer for them, but the outdoor area for Naples Oasis looks very nice!
Cost of things.......
Water
Cable
Internet
Gas
Heat (not that you use it often)
Emily,
I own a 2/2 condo at the St Croix. I'ts vacant right now. My daughter will be graduating from Illinois State University(Education) this May so I hear what your going through. Friend me on FB where there are many pics of Naples I would share with you(see my profile here). Who knows maybe I can work something out for you. Marty
I would not usually do this, but everyone who has left posts has said to look into privately owned condos that people would be willing to rent out. Since this site attracts a lot of people I am going to ask does anyone have a condo/ know of someone who has a condo that wants to rent it out in North Naples in a safe location?? Please let me know also if you have any suggestions. Thank you very much!!
My husband NEVER gets calls from Amberton for any of the reasons above. There are empty lots because it was being built when the economy went bust and the second phase was not finished. I checked the sex offender site and none came up for Amberton (its literally right across from a school I don't think they can even live there because of restrictions on how close they can get) Rent is too high for there to be those kind of people (some of their places are over $1,400 a month) they'd be in places like College Park, Brittany Bay, Anything on Green Blvd or Jefferson Lane, Turtle Creek (altho its called something else but thats the name of the road too) pretty much if its semi affordable like say in the 700-800's its probablly no good. Oasis is good and so is Belvedere. Stick to North Naples
So Brittany Bay is a no no? Is there anything else I should out for? I'm a soon to be graduate and only staying in Naples for temporary work during the summer months. I'm deciding to rent whether to sublet a condo for $1000+/month or find a room share for $500+. $500 is pretty cheap so I don't know if these are okay areas or not.

I was told any apartment that was reasonable was probably section 8 or in a bad area with crime. Maybe you should get a roommate?? Can you afford sublet? Maybe that is a better option. If you search around please let me know what you found!

Yeah I could afford a sublet ($1000+) which is what I'm looking for. But some of these cheap options are a bit tempting (500 for a roomshare), since I didn't realize there were really any "bad" areas in Naples.
Naples is actually a small city in a large county. The county parts aren't in The city of Naples, they just share a federal post office designation which distorts it somewhat. It's like saying you live in Chicago but you actually live in a suburb not within the city.
You don't have to live in a gated community here to be "safe". There are lots of great places. The hardest part will be to find one in your budget.
Good luck in your search.
Regards
Beth
