OMG, I can see now why GLHomes tells you to stay away while your house is being built. Why can't they do it right the first time? I'm not happy at all with what I am seeing.

Not quite I follow what you are saying. I'll admit that I am not familiar with the details surrounding the burglaries but what does it have to do with staying away from the house while it's being built?

They are independent of each other.

Would you mind sharing more details on your experience? My house is about to start construction and I am living overseas and will not be able to inspect the house while its being built. Anything I should focus on? I theoretically won't see the house until closing but will have a friend (who is a construction manager at another development) respresent me and inspect the construction every step of the way.

I am also interested in hearing about any problems or issues to watch out for. Our house has started and is scheduled to be done next February or March. We are living in a rental house not far from Riverstone and can go there any time to check on things.

We have been watching construction of other houses and recently walked through some of them at different stages of completion. I was surprised to see the air handling duct work is the cheap flimsy foil paper stuff like the junk they put behind your laundry dryer. In Illinois, they use metal duct work. Is there any reason they use this stuff in Florida?

I'm going to talk to our designer person and ask to speak with a construction manager before they do any HVAC duct work.

I been a year living a Riverstone, and I really like it. My only disappointments been first, the warranty service is slow, and we had a couple issues... Second, immediately since move I had a mice problem, and I was very disappointed because I complained so much during construction on the workers leaving food and garbage around a constructed house and leaving the houses open during construction, this was a nightmare since I have a baby. We resolve the problem, but they should prevent that proactively. Also, I was surprised too with the costs and restrictions for using the picnic pavilion and clubhouse, I expected a price tag, but they should consider that we already pay for the HOA, and BTW already increased.
So far our house been a great investment, and we are overall happy in it.

It wasn't actually a burglary. A contractor that was owed money by a homeowner came and took back some of his supplies.
