I've been looking at various neighborhoods to purchase in Naples and Pelican Bay looks like it has a lot to offer. Anyone have any knowledge of what it's really like to live there? Pros and cons? Fun place to live? Average age? What is the private beach like? How about the golf course in the community ? Nice course? Hard to get a t-time? Thanks.

Great community, not many families more retired couples/singles. HOA's are over $5000 a year. fantastic location. I'm not a golfer but I have been told that it's a nice course and very easy to get a time out of season, as long as you book a little in advance you should be able to get your time in season.

Deaneyes, if you look under your name in the upper right hand box, there is a little link for "direct messages" there, click on it and you will see my message about the golf membership and the private beaches.

We've stayed in family member's condo in Pelican Bay.....we really like the area. The private beach is very nice and we love the golf cart thru the mangroves and the oceanside restaurant. The sidewalks are bike friendly which makes getting to the beach pretty easy. Nice location....never worried about safety.

Pelican bay is a wonderful spot I have shown many homes in the community, pros include trolley to the beach, fees are fair for the area, location is excellent beach is lovely and quiet, golf is good only need true advance tee times jam feb and March and sometimes in April. Cons would be it is fully built out so not much in the new construction style homes. They are always in a battle over who is responsible to dredge clam pass them or the city and sea gate neighborhood.
