I'm going to update the landscaping in the front of my Naples home. I will be there in July - and it looks like only in July.

I am wondering - is it ok to plant shrubbery during this hot month so long as the new shrubs get watered? Or am I setting myself up for alot of dead new shrubs?

Thank you.

New plantings get put in at new house construction, anytime during the year, fwiw...

Our then new Naples house had them installed in June ish of 2005, and they all did fine.

Our new Nokomis house had them installed in August this past season, and they all did fine, though new house construction in many communities comes with unimaginative/cheap azz selections, imo. Your picks will probably be much 'better' in quality and species.

If you irrigation system is working well, coverage-wise, and the install is done carefully and with good plant materials, I see no problem: especially with the usual daily T storms and rain.

Some landscape people will suggest Oct/November, for the slightly cooler temps, lower sun angles, etc., but it is zone 10a and stuff is growing '24/7' in the clime, under good conditions.
