We have had both...not sure our house guests know the diff, or care, esp in the ubiquitous white color.
Non wood is a lot less dough, seems to finish better, be more square, etc. And, a lot less dough.
I don't think our non-wood is PVC, but maybe.

If you are in Grey Oaks or Quail West, maybe wood req'd to pass inspection. J/K...
If not, who cares if they fit flush, work well, and hang properly.

I do rec'd the panels with upper and lower sections being independent of each other vs the entire panel operating as a unit.

Can't recall who did ours...there are dozens online/phonebook/newspaper ads. Make some calls and pick one or two that sound like they will actually show up and get some quotes.

If you want them for 'the holidays', you may be SOL, as even the less expensive ones take a few to several weeks and the trade is swamped this time of year, imo.

We had Lindsey Blinds In North Naples on Tamiami Trail. I highly recommend them. The owners wife works in the store and the owners husband installs the shutters. Very nice, professional and knowledgeable. We ordered ours in mid March and had them the first week of April.

The shutters we ordered were made in the USA and not from China which will save you in delivery time but cost a little more. The brand of shutters were Palm Beach (Hunter Douglas) and were poly, which is like pvc. Easy to clean, moisture free and won't fade and will last forever. There are alot of different styles and sizes that they will discuss with you in detail. I think with poly, you can only choose bright white or white. Wood, you can choose different colors.

We also had by-pass shutters placed on our screen doors that lead out to our lanai. They move side to side and are the coolest thing ever. We have plantation shutters in both our homes and we always get compliments from everyone! They're not cheap but so worth it!
