My wife and I moved to Naples in December coincident with my retirement. We will be snowbirds and will return to our home in Ohio in early May. We constructed a single-family house in an HOA community. I do not mind the HOA and believe that it keeps the neighborhood pristine and enhances our property value. I understand that others feel differently but different strokes for different folks.

So far, we absolutely love Naples. We read about the awful traffic but it is much less than up North and we are able to avoid the worst of it by choosing to refrain from driving during rush hour and on Saturday mornings (I understand that we are fortunate not to have to commute to a job). Our experience has been the worst drivers are not the elderly but rather men driving pickup trucks. The warm Winter weather permits us to be outside on a daily basis and take walks at a time of year when we would be cooped up in our home if we were in Ohio. We have loved spending mornings and evenings on our lanai. Everyday we check the weather up North and we feel better about our decision to purchase a home in Naples. We also have enjoyed the large variety of fine restaurants to choose from. For us, Naples deserves it reputation as being a healthy and happy place. Again, I understand that others feel differently.

I respectfully disagree. I say Boulder, CO has an average higher VO2 max and lower BMI. Can any of those runners from Naples keep up with the Bolder Boulder A wave with just a weekend of acclimatization. Probably not for most of them.

Rationale: I lived near Boulder, CO for about four years and Florida for about thirteen years.

Higher VO2 max is due to the altitude. On the flip side, muscle recovery is longer due to constant hypoxia.

I also challenge you to find a natural beach in Boulder. Reservoirs don’t count
