Hello Everyone,

We just relocated from Miami to Bonita and I'm looking to bring my mother over with me.

Trying to find her a snow bird place (temporary, 3-4 months) or a home with maybe a senior or two that has lots of empty space? I Saw an article about Sarasota has the most vacant rooms anywhere in Florida and I know SW FL has lots of empty nesters, retirees, etc. so thought I'd ask...

Or even a house with a separate guest apt on property that she could rent.

No pets, single, 65+, receives SSI. Budget of $500 for a room, $700 for guest apt/house or $850 for a 1/1 some place.

Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated!

Property during season goes for higher than your mom's budget. The least expensive seasonal property right now between Naples, Bonita and Estero is going for $1800 per month. It's pretty rough looking. All the good properties were leased long ago.

Maybe try Cape Coral? Port Charlotte?

Again, she needs a room to rent or someone wants house sitting for a few months. Not looking for an expensive apartment since she lives on SSI.

You could try posting in the local Facebook garage sale sites or check craigslist (very carefully, of course).

Try CraigsList! They have a section for rooms/shared housing.

Not sure how many seniors are using craigslist to find roommates ;-)

Marc, here's a thought..
There's quite a few houses for sale in GGE that have small guest houses on the property. Since their house is for sale, they probably wouldn't want a long term renter. Check some of those out

This may be a thought. There are some very nice well kept 55+ mobile home parks around. Most have senior aimed amenities, pools and places to interact.

Plus they get to drive golf carts.

Might be a rental opportunity there.
