Almost every place changes with time. I can not even recognize the block I grew up on in another state. Some change is good and some is bad. Hard to leave friends for sure but I have found many of my friends moved or are thinking of moving as well.

We had many friends as we moved from one place to another. Managed over the years to stay in touch as technology improved ability to stay in touch. Rinse & repeat several yet rinse & repeat again and we found the closest friends were never disconnected albeit the times between connecting was longer. Funny thing, the kids followed a similar approach over the years. We are connected, in person , on the phone, Social media or physical gatherings.

Some of my friends moved to Switzerland, UK, California, Georgia etc.

Yet we stay in touch.

One funny one was my son’s buddy in Georgia got engaged to a girl on the West Coast of California where the happy couple met at work and my son joined the Wedding, leaving the eat coast to be part of the wedding party for the ceremony/ wedding held in Mexico. His parents moved to SWL not far from us and we parents met them again in Florida.

My Daughter served overseas in some hot spots and when she got back it was an old HS friend found her an ICU Nurse position back with her friend in the states.

There are tons of these little nuances. Too many to recall here but upon reflection it would make a great steven
Spielberg / Ron Howard film.

So,there were ups and downs through the years but overall the good sticks more in the mind than bad.

Youjust dont have crystal ball which maybe keeps memories alive and sustains friendships across the world.

Good luck.

This makes absolutely no sense. None.

We moved to Sarasota then to Fort Lauderdale from Myrtle Beach, SC and everyone we know has visited.

Seriously, people I wasn't that close to in MB are now dear friends (no one stays with us) and that has happened with several good aquaintances are not close friends.

Close friends and family of course do visit.

I've even had childhood friends I haven't seen in 35 years visit.

Your people will come to visit you and you will make friends.
