As many of you have already heard Collier is cracking down on short term rentals. Even after reading multiple articles, I still need a question answered. Even the homeowners who are honest and pay the tourism tax aren’t exempt? My understanding is the ordinance is banning rentals less then 6 months applies to most neighborhoods outside the city of Naples, and applies only to single family homes.

Who are the people STILL going to be paying the tourism tax on rental income that are NOT in violation?

I’m a licensed agent and just recently started working with a property management group, so I should know these things. Our business model isn’t vacation rentals though but still curious.

Thanks Corrie

It may be slightly dated as Collier added a percent to the county tax. I think you'd have to report 6% +1% plus the tourist tax or doesn't the new 1% apply? I know we had to change our computer systems to accommodate the state filing to separate but pay the 1% additional on a different line on the tax form.

Anybody Know?
