Naples is a city that has great potential for developing tourism beyond the beach. For example, an old cruise ship should be preserved there as a hotel, museum, and tourist attraction. Potential options include Majesty of the Seas, Song of America, Sun Viking, and Royal Princess (1984). Also, I feel that an observation tower using the Spiral Tower design should be built in Naples. The construction of the Texas State Aquarium and the arrival of the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi led to the development of tourism in the city beyond the beach. So, I could see a unique tower and an old cruise ship preserved in Naples as creating the potential to expand tourism in the area. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majesty_of_the_Seas https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV_Oriental_Dragon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_Celestyal_Olympia https://www.timeout.com/news/this-ec...ur-city-071520 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MV_Artania

Naples seems crowded already. Not sure we need more people coming here.

Collier county needs to address it's iconic lack of adequate road infrastructure before addressing anything that will exacerbate the issue.

The problem is that you'd get visitors who cruised on those ships 40 years ago and would get confused that it's now a tourist attraction.

The USS Lexington has become the defining symbol of Corpus Christi and perhaps the most popular tourist attractions there since it opened in 1992. Also, the historic ocean liner Queen Mary has become the identifiable landmark of Long Beach, California since it arrived there in 1967. The Queen Mary indeed sees about 1.5 million paying visitors a year on average.

Nyc1664 Have you even been to Naples Fl ? Ever been on a boat ride of naples bay . Most boats today have depth finders so people like you see how shallow the bay is in general and then how challenging even the dredged "deep " water channel can be for the larger private yachts in the 100 foot class that call naples home much less a 400 to 1000 foot ship that draws 22 to 40 feet of water . But then the cruise ships you mentioned could be truly entertaining attempt to get into naples bay . Ha

But then the majority of your post are about basically the same thing , giving tourist a high point a view of an area some were around the world or a place to stay that unique . Naples lost its true uniqueness a long time ago . Today its crowded enough just as it is .

Its is a dreamers world
