Default Cost of utilities at Golden Gate Estates, Naples

I'm considering buying a cheapy house and moving to the Golden Gate Estates area. I'm trying to get a handle on the cost of utilities, etc. If you live in the GGE area, could you tell me..

1. What is the average electric bill per month for an average house? (assuming you have central AC)

2. What is the property tax rate for that area?

3. How much is the cable bill? What does it cost to install high speed Internet access via the cable company?

Any other bills I should be aware of?

Electric depends on the size of the home, the age of the home, are there shade trees, how many people live in the home, etc...Parts of golden Gate are FPL and other parts are LCEC. If you find a home you like, you could always find out which electric company it has, and ask for an average for that home.

Also, not all parts of Golden Gate Estates has cable, some parts have satellite tv only. Our bill with embarq, which includes phone, dsl Internet and satellite tv for 6 months is around $70. After the 6 months is up, it goes up to $120 month.

My house is 2500 SF under air. Electric in summer is $300-$400, winter about $200.

Taxes-$3300. Yours may be higher because of the "Save Our Homes" cap which you won't be eligible for. This will depend on the size of your home, though.

Comcast basic cable (no channels past 99, no HBO etc, no box) plus internet about $100/month. Don't know about install costs.

Embarq landline, about $50/month basic service with caller ID etc.

May I ask why you pay so much? Are you in a more expensive home? Pool? That just seems so high. Mine for a 2040 sq ft home in GGE with 2 1/2 acre is only $1,158.43. Is your home older? Not hurricane coded? Maybe you should shop around for lower rates. You just might be overpaying.

Ok, I got my first utility bills. Now this is for the rental. It is 3 br/ 2 bath, living room, kitchen. Not very big, maybe 1600 sq ft under air.

LCEC...$180.53

embarq...$81.71, this includes: DSL, basic phone , and satellite TV w/ free HBO and showtime (this price is good for 6 months and then I pay $39.99 more)

We just bought a home 2040 sq ft. I have no idea what electric will cost, but our other things will be

taxes...around $2100 (close estimate after talking to tax office and collier county appraisers office)

Insurance...$1,158.43

Embarq will cost the same since we will be transferring the account when we move into the home.

My home is bigger, on a larger lot, and includes a guest house. It is not that old and is up to code. No pool. My insurance actually has gone down.

Who is your insurance with?

Those utilities you posted sound reasonable.

Ok, that explains it...I thought you must have had some extras on your policies. I forgot you mentioned somewhere else, about the guest house.

My policy is with, security first. They are an "A" rated company.
