I have settled on living somewhere North of Nashville. We will need to drive to Hopkinsville, KY weekly and will be working downtown Nashville Monday thru Friday. We are looking for a Kid friendly neighboorhood with a price range of 300k to 450k maybe a little more. My number one concern is a quality school for my 8 and 5 year old. I don't mind a rural area however I would like a subdivision in a kid friendly neighborhood. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated????

At that price range you should be able to find many kid-friendly neighborhoods north of town. If driving to Hopkinsville is going to be a weekly trip for a long time, I'd probably suggest looking first along the I-24 corridor. The only problem there is that most of that area is fairly rural and not as "neighborhoody" as other parts of town. Plus schools might be hit and miss.

If you don't mind adding about 30 minutes to the Hopkinsville commute, I'd suggest looking in Hendersonville or the Sumner County side of Goodlettsville for the school system. It's not too far from I-24 (maybe 15-20 minutes one way) and is also a decent commute to Nashville too. Check out www.realtracs.com, look under "Sumner County" and choose either Goodlettsville or Hendersonville to narrow down the listings by your price range. You should find ample neigborhoods in those areas very easily at that price point.

While you're on realtracs, I'd look at homes in the I-24 corridor as well. Cities like Joelton or Pleasant View might be a good place to check for homes.

Good luck and let us know how we can help.

Wow, I dont know where your moving from but houses down here are cheap! 200K - 250K for a house in a nice well respected neighborhood, so you could buy almost anything with your range. Well my best fit for you would be White House. Its half in Sumner county and half in Robertson County. Its a rural/suburban mix town with plenty of shopping (Super Walmart & Kroger) yet there are also plenty of farms (horse farms!) and rustic rural charm. Theres about 5,000 people in White House and a 30 minute commute to downtown nashville (with fair traffic.) Schools are good in Robertson & Sumner, though Sumner schools would be slightly better. Theres also Hendersonville which was voted top 10 places to raise your family but its lost any rural charm in the last few years and has about 100,000 people in the whole area. (25 minute commute to downtown) Now Hopkinsville is an hour and a half from the North Nashville suburbs. I wouldnt suggest Joelton/Pleasant View I lived there for 7 years, the schools are terrible and there are too many rednecks! If you want your children in good public schools I wouldnt suggest anywhere in Davidson County, the schools (except for a select few) are abysmal! I hope this helps.
