Default Indy to Nashville with 3 kids - housing?

We are moving to Nashville from Indianapolis area and are looking for a nice neighborhood, big house with lots of space, great schools, no more than 30 minutes to Vanderbelt U, and under $250K. Any suggestions? I keep hearing Brentwood and Franklin, but housing seems to be a lot higher in those areas. What about Hendersonville? Any other suggestions? We're traveling there next week to check out the area further and would like to know where to start at. Thanks.

You can definitely find that in Hendersonville!
I would recommend the Mansker Farms neighborhood as it has one of the shortest commutes from Hendersonville and is zoned for the Beech School District. You might also consider Goodlettsville...just make sure the house is on the Sumner County side of the city and you'll still be zoned for Hendersonville schools.

I don't know what your definition of big is... but there are some subdivisions in Franklin that are under $250k with nicely maintained homes... they are older (built in the 90s) but still fairly modern. I'm thinking specifically Rogershire

Hendersonville is probably your best bet.

You may want to take a look at Fairview. It would take you about 35 min. tops to get to Vanderbilt via Hwy 100 or I-40. It's located in Williamson County which is the best school district in the state. Plenty of homes on realtracs for under 250K and most are on a minimum of half an acre. I would recommend that you take a look at the homes in Woodridge, Sharpe's Run, Braxton Bend and Kingwood. While it is a somewhat rural community, there is a lot of commercial development happening out there right now. Worth a look. Good luck and welcome to Tennessee!
