Possible job at Austin Peay need upper middle class suburbs of Nashville to live (Clarksville: low crime, houses)

Finalist for position at Austin Peay, need to know which suburbs outside of Nashville are good. Low crime, good public school district housing range btwn 250 - 400 with some housing developments within 20 years old.

You can look nearly anywhere in Williamson County. Excellent public schools, not too bad of a commute to Nashville. Brentwood might be hard to find a house except at the top of your price range, depending on what you're willing to concede, but there are several other areas that might be more agreeable. If not Williamson Cty, maybe Sumner? I don't know much about that area, we only looked there before we narrowed our search to Williamson Cty and Brentwood, but I know people who live there and love it.

Yes it is. I assume the OP is asking about nicer suburbs on the north side, since Clarksville is about 2.5 hours from Brentwood.

Clarksville is about 45 minutes from Brentwood, not 2.5 hours. It would certainly be longer at rush hour, but I still don't think it would be anywhere close to 2.5 hours since once you got through Nashville there wouldn't be much traffic. But if I were going to be working at Austin Peay I would live in Clarksville. There are some newer neighborhoods there and I really think you'd be better off living in Clarksville

Your best bet would be to live in Clarksville. That may be where most AP professors live?
The only other option may be to check out Springfield or Goodletsville. The developed area of the city ends when you get on I-24 going NW of Nashville.

The main problem in living in Brentwood is you will suffer the same bad traffic as everyone else going downtown with no option to do anything else. Clarksville is prone to having bad weather before the rest of the metro area. Heading north can lead you into more ice & snow conditions than further south. The closer you get to KY can make a tremendous difference. There are enough big hills & curves to make this route tough when the weather gets bad. A truck wreck on I-24 can tie up the interstate for hours with no good alternate routes.

If you wanna be closer to APSU there are a couple nicer neighborhoods in Clarksville. My favorite is Glenwood right off of Madison St. There are a couple houses on the market right now. LOVE this neighborhood! Real close to APSU and downtown. It would be worth checking out...
